Job Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise assigned drivers to include adherence to company policy, performance counseling, and reviews
  • Daily communication with drivers includes dispatching, tracking/tracing loads, and pre-plans to ensure the driver receives and understands vital information
  • Heavy daily interaction with drivers.  Will be the liaisons between drivers and management to ensure that expectations are being met with respect to both service and cost
  • Utilize in-cab telematics tools to manage the operation through driver performance monitoring and trip reporting functions along with any other potential issues
  • Manage driver DOT compliance, including CDL & medical card expirations, random drug screen coordination, and quarterly safety training
  • Manage driver layover and detention times maintain the status of equipment that’s being serviced by maintenance personnel
  • Enter service failures daily and manage driver’s ability for on-time delivery
  • Respond to any driver payroll/settlement questions
  • Manage driver miles
  • Appropriately match loads to drivers, which will satisfy both customer and driver needs while ensuring freight is delivered and picked up in a safe and timely manner
  • Manage fleet turnover to maintain a satisfactory retention ratio
  • Manage revenue per truck
  • Maintain fleet awareness for the driver safety reports

Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in a business-related or communication field is preferred. Previous dispatch work experience in the trucking industry may be substituted for education.
  • Two (2) years of dispatch experience preferred.
  • Previous trucking experience is a plus
  • Good Phone and communication skills
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Must be detail-oriented and good with following up on unfinished tasks
  • Basic personal computer or host terminal skills required
  • Strong organizational skills required
